The general election is just two days away.

For the first time in over a decade, there is a real and serious threat that the Tories could come back to power.

On Thursday - polling day - we are not just deciding who holds the keys to Downing Street. We are voting on jobs, on our public services, and on our rights - whether to elect a government that will protect them, or a government that will put them at risk.

Listen to the stories of real workers who depend on a Labour government:

Watch this video: Don't forget what the Tories did last time

The threat of a Conservative government doesn't just lie in the hands of the Tories. With David Cameron and Nick Clegg in the race, the threat is twice as big this time around.

Let's not kid ourselves - the Liberal Democrats do not speak up for working people. Nick Clegg likes to talk about fairness, but scratch the surface and you can see what they really stand for.

Just last week, Vince Cable announced that the Lib Dems are opposed to the Working Time Directive - the Europe-wide right to paid leave and minimum breaks at work. And that's just the start - they're also planning to take away vital tax credits from 2.5 million people - making it harder for working families to make ends meet.

Sounds an awful lot like the Tories, doesn't it?

Volunteer just an hour or two of your time on Thursday to make sure our next government speaks up for working people:

http://www.unionstogether.org.uk/elect-Labour

Many people have lost faith in politics and politicians, but the reality is that the decision about who forms the next government will have a direct impact on all our lives. It's only by talking to people that we can make it clear what's at stake this election.

We have to remind them that Labour is the only party that stands up for ordinary families and protects workers' rights. Every single vote will count in stopping the Tories and Lib Dems - that's why I'll be spending polling day knocking on doors and reminding people to vote Labour.

Join me on polling day to make sure that all Labour supporters remember to vote. Volunteer just an hour or two of your time on polling day to protect your future:

http://www.unionstogether.org.uk/elect-Labour

The Labour movement has always relied on trade unionists and grassroots campaigners coming together to protect jobs and fight for workers' rights. We have never needed to fight more than now.

Helen

Thats my kind of threat..real men doing real Jobs...thank you Dave =D>

everyone with a vote should be FORCED to vote, and spoiling a voting slip should be a criminal offence.

im also in favour of ID cards, removal of illegal immigrants from the UK, no state benefits or NHS freebies for EU immigrants without 3 years of N.I. contributions, foreign driving licences only being legal to use here for 3 months, close scrutiny and control of "student" visas (and once expired the person should be flagged up as "wanted")

its time to stop the rot
To be fair Wannabe a democracy should mean that you have the choice if you wanna get involved, I,ve never liked Punch and Judie myself. I agree with your views on I.D cards and foreign licences but as for foreigners claiming benefits then N.I on 200 quid a week is only about £19, Times that by 52 weeks and then 3 years comes to about three grand. At £500 quid a month housing benefit alone then that's the 3 grand gone in six months so in my opinion give the N.I cont's back with a shiny ticket home.

no, a democracy means you have a vote

millions have died fighting for the freedom to vote, anyone not voting descrates the memory of those who paid the ultimate price

my point about 3 years without benefits is that the buggers wont hang about if they cant get a giro....and a £200 wage gets NI and tax deductions, roughly 25% = £50 a week, not £19 (HMG get it all, whatever you call it)
O.k BNP it is then, but I'm pretty sure it's only your N.I contributions that go toward any benefit's or pensions you end up with.

How many zeros in a billion?

This is too true to be funny…

The next time you hear a politician use the
Word 'billion' in a casual manner, think about
Whether you want the 'politicians' spending
YOUR tax money.

A billion is a difficult number to comprehend,
But one advertising agency did a good job of
Putting that figure into some perspective in
One of it's releases.

A billion seconds ago it was 1959.

A billion minutes ago Jesus was alive.

A billion hours ago our ancestors were
Living in the Stone Age.

A billion days ago no-one walked on the earth on two feet.

A billion Pounds ago was only 13 hours and 12 minutes,
At the rate our government Is spending it.

Corporate Income Tax, Income Tax, Vat Tax,
National Insurance, Council Tax,Inheritance Tax,
Airport Taxes, Petrol/Diesel Tax, Cigarette Tax,
Alcohol Tax, Marriage License Tax, Stamp Duty Tax on Property,
Service charge taxes, Road Fund Tax ,
New Vehicle Registration Tax, Vehicle Sales Tax,
Broadband Tax (Just around the corner)

University Fees (were free)

Pension Fund Rebates Lost

STILL THINK THIS IS FUNNY?

Not one of these taxes existed 100 years ago...
And our nation was one of the most prosperous in the world.

We had absolutely no national debt...
We had the largest middle class in the world...
And Mum stayed at home to raise the kids.

What happened?

Gordon Brown, that's What

Perhaps some of them were just fighting for freedom.....including the freedom to not vote if they chose.

FFS I agree with gusmac

But I dont think they were fighting for freedom, I think they were fighting because they had no alternative, perhaps we should have used a PR system and voted on it?
