Many mistakes were made on this type of sites prior to Nidge and myself starting T&PH, the majority of arguments were based around members being suspicious of other peoples motives and actual positions in the trade. As anything else we decided that we would request further information in an attempt to rectify such potential problems before the ugly heads were raised.
Indeed elsewhere on the WWW people who are berating us for taking this action are now demanding to know who they are talking to, so they are not "in the dark", this is what we intended to do, pity the same attitudes were not adopted then.
The argument FOR civilised debate was also a contributing factor for our methods. When members decide that they don't wish to conduct themselves in a civilised manner we decided that the particular member be excluded in such a way that it would be difficult if not impossible for them to corrupt the site with any vengance they may have thought they needed to exercise.
There was loads of talk about being anti this and anti that, latterly on TTFUK and throughout T&PH but absolutely nothing could have been further from the truth.
Licensing the illegal minicabs in London was, and still is an issue where not even London drivers can make a unanimous decision on, all that was suggested on TTFUK and T&PH was that by regulating and licensing the minicab trade numbers would be dramatically reduced as, very possibly, not even half of the current bunch would be able to meet the criteria laid out.
I carried no personal greviences from TTFUK to T&PH they very much raised their own heads.
Finally just to clarify, peoples attitudes were a contributing factor for TTFUK closing down, not because of any other reason than moderating such attitudes was extremely time consuming and not everyone was pulling their weight. T&PH is still on hold but it hasn't gone and will possibly return properly in the new year, depending on circumstances.
