Well, been twice this morning and it's as I suspected....there IS going to be a charge to use the new Rapid drop off lane. You can see the new exit with the same contraption as at Luton where you drop a pound in.

The robbing baskets...it's a total pi*s take to charge customers like this.

It was on it's way wasn't it? After the success of Luton and Birmingham where they charge you to drop off it was a case of when and not if they bought the charges into force.

I despise any company that charges you to drop their passgengers off.

Particulaly if you use a credit or debit card to pay because they charge you another arm and a leg for using them.

It's just been on East Midlands Today, the charge for drop off starts on Thursday. It did say there will be an hour free in the Long Stay car park.
Still not sure if the 10 mins free for pick up will remain.

Didn't they say that it would be £1 for drop off and also £1 for pick up?

I have just watched the news. It is £1.00 to drop off and £1.00 for 10 minutes to pick up. After 10 minutes you have to pay extra. I have rang the airport but I was unable to get an answer as to how much extra and I couldn't get an answer as to credit card charges for using the car park. Priviously if you used a credit or debit card to pay for the parking they would charge you an extra £1.50 just to use the card. You can now get 1 hours free parking in car park 6 which is over 1 mile from the terminal but there is a free shuttle bus available. They stated that the shuttle bus takes 4 1/2 minutes to get to or from the terminal but they didn't say how often the buses ran.

East Midlands Airport has introduced a new £1 charge to drop-off passengers at its main terminal.

Airport managers said passengers could be dropped off for an hour at its long-stay car park for free and take a bus to the terminal.

But if anyone uses the "rapid drop-off zone" it will cost £1 for 10 minutes

or free thru the car park?......lol

the magic "free 10 minutes" are soon gone with a few cars to get round and 1 of the party taking a pee.....inside the terminal........

There is no free 10 minutes in the car park in front of the terminal. You are charged just for going in now. The free parking is over 1 mile away.

Been this morning and boy what a cock up, it doesn't give you much time to get into lane, them stupid barriers they've put up will soon be bent and twisted.

I think I'll give it a wide birth from now on.

You need to speak to NCP who run the car park, they'll tell you all the prices.
