This year in April but I could be wrong about the exact month

so tell me, did the plates/badges charges go:-

1) DOWN for all to the lower level of the two

2)UP to the higher level of the two

3) all stay as they were? or

4) strike an average?

only 1 of the above is fair and right..........guess which

For a start, how would you identify out of town HC or PH quickly, other than by different colour plates?

why would you need to?

joe public wont walk round the back or even be able to focus on a plate after 12 pints of draught bass, he dont care if its a solihull or warrington cab so long as he gets home...

i thought this was all about public safety?

WHICH would be better protected by the removal of PH:HC plating and make all equal....

You'd need to because if you couldn't joe public could end up getting in an unlicenced vehicle because it is out of area and whilst joe public may not care the authority do and so do the rest of that areas trade.

with the proper legislation and regulation there wouldnt be any problem, "a taxi is always a taxi" has been said but outside its own medieval parish boundary it isnt is it...........assuming a taxi can take a flag down....

Personally i dont give a rats ass who gets in what, but be honest, the real gripe is that a fare may be lost to a visiting HC isnt it.....public safety is just a flag of convenience

Why have any laws at all then?

Do we want the Wild West scenario for getting people home after a Friday or Saturday night getting bladdered?

I think not & some order is necessary!!!

But you say that you 'dont give a rats ass who gets in what'!!!

That's irresponsible!!

The next thing you'll be advocating is a change in the laws to accommodate your Wild West scenario with a new clause to amend the LG (MP) Act 1976 stating;

'Each & every licensed Hackney Carriage Driver & Private Hire Driver shall carry & be trained to NVQ standard in the use of a lasso to gather the paralytically p*ssed when on night duty.'

FFS!!

BC, im only responsible for MY actions, i realised years ago that i wasnt going to be able to change the way anyone else behaves, and im not responsible for thier actions

start attempting to put all the wrongs to rights and you will soon drive yourself to distraction

if the public want to get in the wrong car let em, so long as yours is operated legit

should i chastise evey driver who fails to signal, who speeds, who i see using a mobile phone?

and its not my job to nick any PH or HC who operates outside his or her licensing conditions is it

Theres absolutely no way plate colours have anything to do with "who does what and where", if i see a glasgow hack pull up and pickup here id assume they were his pre-booked fares and carry on minding my own business

I just googled Cheshire West & Chester and there it was. Once inside I searched the site for 'licensing' then I got bored
