I'm sure we can charge a higher rate in bad snow (maybe even double?)... and in my opinion, rightly so!
I won't be working if it gets much worse, but as far as I'm concerned the lads that stick it out deserve every penny they make... As long as customers are aware of the extra charge at the start of the journey.

Personally - as a young driver - my insurance is costly enough without taking any sort of risk in the snow, so my car will be locked up for a week if it gets much worse.

Best you do stay at home the office will not allow you to charge double on your fare. If you're lucky they will allow £1 extra for bad weather and if it gets really bad, which currently it isn't and seldom does, lots of drivers stay home and the office only take work for the hospital contract and you know how good that rate is

I cant think of any trade that charges double just because its snowing (maybe plumbers), I certainly wouldnt pay double, and I wouldnt charge double, my only extras ar bank holidays and out-of-hours which i think is fair given PAYE employees get more
