Do you think it'll become part of the campaign for Holyrood in a few weeks? :lol:

Whats the difference between giving Gary Thompson £50K for a license and giving Edinburgh Council £30K.....apart from the obvious £20K difference?

And maybe keeping a care home open with the proceeds?

Question to the average councillor.

How much are taxi plates worth in total in the big cities?

The same as the last time this was discussed on here ad naseum :roll:

And what's the difference between that and reissuing all the plates which, after all, are worth nothing in Scotland.

About £40 million :D

Which has what relevance to answering the question I put, even supposing councillors actually read these things :D

In fact I suspect that if asked the question the average councillor would have to ask what it meant FFS :lol:

Which gives even greater credence to the comment;

It would, for example, be in a local authority’s interest to ensure the taxi market is not flooded with taxi licenses; this would destroy any demand for medallions.

Oh, aye, I forgot that it was all about cementing the cartel and inflating current plate values.

You should have mentioned by how much medallion values increased in New York when the whole thing was set in stone :D

Yes but you forget;

the initial grant of a taxi license which is determined by a demand survey,

I can only presume you missed that bit on purpose?

Not much money for care homes and councillors expenses if they go that way. Better earner if they haul all the licenses back in (which are technically worthless) and sell them off to the highest bidders.

As I said, opening this can of worms could f*ck everyone over. Even you.

Thank you for bringing 'f*ck' into the debate.
