Our common law protects freedom of speech, not as you say, the "police". The police are employed by the state to enforce the law any protection of the law comes from our common law by way of the judiciary and our elected members of parliament who make the law.

So you are saying that the police do nothing to protect his right of freedom of speech

I said exactly what I said. If you can't understand that then your powers of observation are hardly a concern of mine? However, when you wrote that nonsence perhaps you had in mind the many examples where the police have protected free speech because I can assure you I have many examples where they've tried to surpress free speach.

Of course, free speech is not the freedom to shout "FIRE" in a crowded theatre.

But letting Trevor Flanellagain have free reign on this site has exposed him to the trade for the type of person he is, and has (hopefully) put off many who thought that joining a union is the way forward. If he is a typical shop steward, of the type Peter Sellars satirised in the late 50's, I for one would not be surprised. Unions are SO 19th. Century. Minicab Strike? GBC and his colleagues must be shuddering at the thought.

Ill tell you what many people will now turn to my column, and the captains,[for he surely deserves one]and in those columns we will swap pleasentries AND debate the industries problems, surely a step forward.
As for the Royals, the army etc, allow me to point out my father who didnt have too, flew many missions on lancaster bombers during WW2.He could have gone to Ireland and sat it out, this in living memory of the activities of the Black and Tans, where some of his family were killed. His attitude was stop the fascists, defend free speach and Trade Unionism. He detested the Royal Family but loved this country, snd his homeland,as i do,it does no harm to provacate debate.Remember the first people incarcarated by the Nazis were socialists and trade unionists.18 months before the arrest of any Jews on a racial basis.Racialism is a plague that must be erradicated, unfortunately it is only too forward on this site,to the shame of the administrators.I respect the opinions of the Capt,Mr T ,Jimbo GA and others, but reserve the right to respond to the insults so frequently aimed at us the TU Movement. Our movement will always be at the front in the battle to defend free speech.Lets use that right.

I have never insulted the TU movement.
I have though questioned the motives behing the T&G and the GMB in starting "taxi branch's" because of my own personal experiences.

I have also never requested that another member should be stooped from posting because of their viewpoint, nor can I remember any other member requesting the same .............. so your not defending "free speech" your demanding that people accept your opinions as being unquestionable. Two completely different things I'm sure you will agree.
