at least griffin nails his colours to the mast, how many racist mps are there really?

That is why one should not believe in them..... If they told the truth they would lose their careers and everthing else they really stand for, which is to screw you and everyone else..... Except the very wealthy bankers of course, who/which really run this hoodwinked country.....

That's no reason to keep up this archaic and corrupt system.
The minority ruling the majority is not by any definition democratic.

It is also undemocratic to restrict the electorate's choice of candidates
Thats what happens in places like Iran and it's what used to happen in the old Soviet Union. Vote for who you like from the list we approve of.
Who decides who is approved?

In Northern Ireland, the ballot box won over the bullet. Do you think this would have happened if those who chose the democratic route had been denied because we didn't like their politics?

In a democracy, we can't just shut people up or deny them representation just because we don't like them or their views.
One of the down sides to democracy is people tend to vote for the candidates which reflect their views. Not the views others think they should have.

Real democracy means having abhorrent people like Mr Griffen in parliament.
It's the true price of democracy.

It seems that the Lib Dems and the Tories are going to form the next Government.

Only time will tell as to what happens, but at least they wont have to bribe the nationalists with our money.

I would imagine the worst thing for the SNP is a Labour party out of power.

No i do not think so in a recent poll 46% of Scots said they would vote for independence in a referendum if it was a Tory government. In another poll only 33% said they would vote for independence if there was a labour government.

In saying that Margaret thatcher crucified us so i am not looking forward to a Tory government.

My point is that the protest vote will now go to the Labour rather the SNP.

That said, the SNP didn't exactly set the world alight last Thursday. :-k

The best thing that has come out of this, if it comes out, is the idea of fixed term parliaments.

That I like & there was even some enthusiasm for the idea from seasoned politicians on the rolling News programmes last night.

No more seizing the moment, calling a General Election & going to the country when it suits the ruling party, because the economy or whatever other feel good factor is in the ascendancy.

Four years fixed parliament seems to be the initial proposal; I do hope it becomes enacted.
