so they have stripped Lincolnshire of £9M in grants and added £15 Million onto the wages cost through employers NI cost  so we can expect a large rise in council tax bills next year

this is a situation for all councils but is not the prime reason for LCC's large cost increases but I'm sure is an element of it.

That'll soon be four years or so since I've had much in the way of a cold or flu :-o

(Except for a mildish cold I had last year, which turned out to be Covid - the only time I've been (knowingly) infected, although in the grand scheme of thing I hardly ever tested.)

In other words, since before the initial lockdown.

Of course, lockdown itself would have helped avoid the usual colds etc, not to mention all the other preventative stuff directly related to Covid.

But I'm guessing all the vaccinations etc will have prevented it, or at least alleviated any symptoms, to the extent that I may have been infected with something or other without knowing it.

Had my winter flu jab and Covid booster a couple of weeks ago...touchwood [-o<

Idiot punters who take the rubbish out whilst you wait for them.

And then throw their keys in the large council rubbish bins. #-o

I remember reading in a book that pre WW1 there was a full train service on many of the commuter lines into london on xmas day and it wasn't until well after WW2 that trains and busues stopped running or reduced to a very limited service. We are now in a country where quite a high percentage of the country doesn't recognise christmas day as anything more than a bank holiday and prefer to work.

Customers who spend the entire job trying to put the seat belt on.

And then work out they are putting the belt in the wrong clip. #-o

Cold, wet, windy, and dead as a corpse.

Not sure if this is a gripe or not, but I'm putting it here nonetheless.

More and more of the people I went to school with are retiring.

Does that make them lazy so and so's ( :D ), or does the fact that I'm never going to retire make me a greedy so-and-so? 8-[

If they can afford to retire it possibly means they were good planners and put money away.
I now get my old age pension but I can't yet afford to stop work. I would like to retire to Spain eventually but it is not possible while my mother in law is needing my wife.
You not wanting to retire does not make you greedy. Unless you have something that you want to do other than work keep going.

School transport is not a council cost, central government send them the money to dish out

State of the roads.

In many places it's like driving on a rollercoaster.
