the government will still be racking in it's 56.94p per litre on diesel.
+VAT=66.9p

The vat is also on the real price of the fuel so is actually higher than 66.9p
I make it nearer 73.2p based on diesel at 109p per litre.
So it is. Disgusting amount of tax, whatever way it's counted :x

Oh yes.

The price I pay for my LPG has been steadily increasing all year and in fact the rise in duty on LPG was greater than the rise for both petrol and diesel and I would bet that it will increase even more next year.

This is what stifles any attempt to move away from petrol and diesel. If they found a way to run a car on fresh air, the b*st*rds would tax the balls off it. :x

Any government needs to raise revenue to pay for the country's expenditure. Maybe some of you could suggest other ways for this revenue to be raised if you don't want it raising through fuel duty.

Directly through income tax or VAT instead of pretending they are a low tax government.
Or they could stop wasting our money on foreign wars and benefits for any f*cker who shows up at our door with a sob story.
