Put a couple of large bags of grit in the boot and a shovel. The extra weight helps with grip and the grit + shovel will come in handy if you get stuck somewhere.

Let some air out of the back tyres (3 or 4 lbs).
This will give a little more grip. (front ones on a FWD  ).

Well thats over 6 months since I picked up the van.

I've got more familiar with it now.
Its still not as good as a TX for working in Central London, but it's far superior if you work the airport on a regular basis. The doors still confuse me / them, but as more and more Vitos appear, I have to tell them less and less to leave the doors alone.

Its a smooth drive, and quick off the mark.

The rear wheel steering seems to have stopped buzzing at me, although there is now an upgraded part that is available from KPM if I do have any future problems.

The intercom is still crap, although again there is an upgrade, and I'll be booking it in for that when it has it's 12K inspection next week.

Problems so far:

A sensor failed resulting in me driving into London with the engine in 'emergency' mode at 50 mph on the Motorway.
Mind you, the plus side was that the fuel economy was brilliant for that day!

A puncture.

Some badly fitted trim / coachwork in the rear.

Touch wood, that's been it . . . so far 8-[

Have you had many jobs where six punters have walked past all the TXs in front of you? :D

Like winning the pools. :D

The Vito..............

living the dream!!!

It really is that good.

20 months,104,000 miles,one minor fault.

I would be lost without it.

A couple of times at Euston, but they haven't exactly been going far.

We don't charge extra regardless of how many get in.

What does pizz me off, is when 6 travel and the job goes less than a pound each, and you still get sfa as a tip, despite the fact it cost them less than a bus fare each.

I'm wondering what to get as a replacement for my "Old Style" fiat scudo WAV.

TX4 is not in the running - everyone around me who buys one has snags. The biggest fall down is they are just too small in the front for a full grown adult to be comfortable in. I sometimes think that LTC, LTI or whatever they are called this week consider that their products are for ex-Jockeys to drive.

I think it is between the VW or the Merc for me, and the Merc is in the lead by a short head.

Next question I am asking myself is, which company to buy from?

Birmingham Taxi warehouse do the London spec Vito, minus the rear wheel steer part, for around £34K.

Good looking cab.

Or there's this one on Taxi Mart which is a steal if it's still around:

Lovely looking cab.

I see Taxi Mart has a few for sale now.

Do they really; are you sure?

It doesn't have the rear wheel steer though.
