http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/8358562.stm A few years away i know, but what do we do then? This phenomenon, 'technological unemployment' is something we can't stop! We can't all be call centre advisers!!!! That is the problem with this recession, even when we recover how do we stop scientific progress from upsetting the present paradigm? Something new is inevitable. The present system has a few decades left, but when technology starts eating into the professional professions like doctors and the like it is over. If you think that is far fetched scientists have already invented a machine to perform heart bypass surgery with more accuracy than our best doctors. The reason it has not came in yet is due to economies of scale. But once the scale of these machines increase, the cost will come down, economically it will become impossible to ignore, your physician becomes unemployed - GAME OVER. It will be more complicated than that of course. Simplicity for arguments sake. I hope I am wrong. |
