At a local meeting on Tues evening someone stated there was a set £8 fare between Yrok and York races, they even stated the fare was mandatory by the LA. Is this correct? CC |

York Racecourse is a drive away from the City Centre. Can't comment on the price though. |

I would think that is perhaps the fare from the train station as quoted by the franchise holders but clever punters would use the park and ride surely as it is less than half a mile from one of the park and ride sites ? there must be some considerable variation depending on whereabouts the taxi was picked up from and I would be surprised if it metered £8 from the city centre |

Is this correct? CC I am surprised that the normal poster on this site who is "HE WHO KNOWS EVERYTHING AND NO ONE ELSE IS ALLOWED TO THINK" has not replied to your post and told you the correct fare, There is a set flag which starts at £5.50 on race days only and only if the customers are attending the races. This is on the LA fare chart. The distance and time element are longer than normal so normally the cost to the racecourse from most stating points work out an extra £1/£2 depending on traffic flow and the normal extras, When going on non race day the fare from the station is around £5 On a race day the fare is approximately £6.00 (with no hold ups) There is of course the possibility of a driver adding extra in any situation, I recently took three girls back to the station from four streets away and the fare was approx £4.50, they had been charged to go there from the station £8 |

Is this correct? CC The fare in question was agreed between the Council and the trade some years ago, in an attempt to strike a balance between the driver not losing money due to being stuck in taffic and the customer spending moneydue to the same traffic causing the meter to tick away whilst not going anywhere. It is on a seperate tarrif( 3) on the meter and is as follows, To or from the racecourse, £5.50 for the first 1592 metres or 7minutes, 49 seconds of waiting time or a combination of both. Tarriff 1 is £2.30 for the first 112 metres or 33 seconds of waiting time or a combination of both. When you explain it to passengers the majority of them seem happy, that is if you have the vocabulary to do this. To answer why I did not post earlier, I was too busy earning money, as the Hypnotist now has more time than me due to the Licence on the vehicle he drives being suspended, why can he not go and drive for someone else I hear you THINKING, that is because no one will give him a drive, more later. |

To answer why I did not post earlier, I was too busy earning money, as the Hypnotist now has more time than me due to the Licence on the vehicle he drives being suspended, why can he not go and drive for someone else I hear you THINKING, that is because no one will give him a drive, more later.[/quote] Mr Thinker You do really do not get it do you, just let it go, this endless ranting over the licence is not doing you or anyone else any good. As I told the council when they granted the OWNER of the vehicle the licence last Wednesday if one person had not claimed ownership our agreement would have carried on as normal. It was the possibility of the previous licensee transferring the licence or demanding to buy our car at a knock down price that forced our hand to do the same. Some people who are still in the owners who rent plates position might have a change of mind when the council tighten up the rules after these events. As the previous licensee never contacted us to make a deal and he told a pack of lie's to the council to try and save his licence it just shows our action was correct we would have been shafted by doing nothing. I have not asked anyone else for a drive as I do not want to drive anyone else's car. I have been given a lot of support by mainly rental drivers and as some of the licence holders are making a campaign out of slagging us off many wish to keep their feelings quiet. It is just like this trade that people can not express their thoughts openly. All that said you can rest assured I will be back driving as soon as all appeals have failed, that are only being made to stop us earning a living. If you want to keep slagging me off feel free as it just shows you have no concept of fair play. I say this as you have never discussed the issue with me to understand our point of view, if you had and still felt the same way I would respect your opinion. Same as slagging me off for taxibus idea when friends of yours had the same idea over a year ago. So I do not claim this idea as my own I just thought it could start people discussing the options that are open to all taxi drivers rather than moaning that trade is bad. Or should we wait till we can not afford to run a taxi with the income available. The station quickly taking away our permit to try and cut our income to force us into submission, (they said if we drop our claim they would find us a car and let us stay in the station) did not work. So I do not think your constant slagging off will stop us either so, SHAKE YOUR HEAD AND GET OVER IT Must go to work now as I also need to earn a living unlike some who sit back and wait for cash to roll in as they got a free plate in the days of plenty.More later if you want? |

As a result of Wednesdays hearings I think there is only one way the council in York will go and thats deregulate. This one has still a long way to run methinks |

It's simple really, the owners will appeal and the Council will not want any court appearances or costs, so the only way out is to deregulate then everyone can have a plate, and the decent people who have done the job correctly will lose out for the avarice of these four. |

"These four" ! ! are the ones that have done the job correctly, as has been proved in representing themselves in front of the licencing committee and presenting to that committee enough proof and documented evidence that they are the lawful and rightful proprietors of the vehicles involved. The appeals process is simply there now for the previous 'proprietors' to provide even more incriminating evidence against them. They said and presented enough, forged, faked and fraudulent evidence on Wednesday to hang themselves. Some seem to think they are above the law, but a rather large shock is in store for them should they choose to appeal ! How can anyone expect to dupe a committee of educated people ? I really do hope they appeal to the magistrates court and present the same evidence to a court of law !! Ha Ha ! They may not walk out of that meeting. From start to finish they have been digging a hole and continue to dig. I think on Wednesday they stopped digging for a brief moment, looked up, and realised that was a pretty deep hole they had dug themselves into. The question is : Do they carry on digging ? Or get out of that hole while they still can ? Personally, I truly hope they keep digging away, appeal to the council and appeal to the magistrates. Already they have provided enough for police prosecution, but every little helps. Its not often the criminal provides the evidence willingly to hang themselves. Please, Please, Please, APPEAL ! APPEAL ! APPEAL ! Perhaps thats why the Licensing Committee ordered a full investigation into documents presented at Wednesdays meeting and statements that some people made. They are collecting enough evidence to present to a court of LAW. Even after 30 years in business, some people have'nt learnt much !!!!! |

First I heard bout a set fare to Racecourse !! £8.00 !! I been missing out all this time ! Is that just from York station to Racecourse or does that include all ranks ? Quote: It is on a seperate tarrif( 3) on the meter and is as follows, To or from the racecourse, £5.50 for the first 1592 metres or 7minutes, 49 seconds of waiting time or a combination of both.
Tarriff 1 is £2.30 for the first 112 metres or 33 seconds of waiting time or a combination of both. There aint no set fare of £8.00 on Tariff (3) ! |

Quote: why can he not go and drive for someone else I hear you THINKING, that is because no one will give him a drive, more later
Quote: I 'THINK' you will find that all four have either got drives or continue to earn money and a living in another way. No hardship licence being suspended ! While theyre earning, the EX proprietors are spending all their hard earned money on solicitors fees ! ! ! ! And they'll need em too come the appeals ! ! This aint a game ! You dont get a "Get of jail Free" card in this ! Although they have passed "GO" they wont be collecting their £200 anymore ! Hey thats a great name for a game aint it ? "Taxi Plate Monopoly" instead of buying houses and hotels, you could buy plates and permits, collect rents, buy cars, sell cars, sell plates, could get extra points or cash for driving a wheel chair access vehicle, etc etc etc the list goes on !!! Cant believe nobody thought of it before !! Maybe call it " Monopoly ! On Taxi Plates" ! what you think ??? |
