In order to obtain a licence the vehicle must meet certain criteria such as safety standards. Hackney carriages are the only vehicles that can ply for hire and use the hackney carriage stands. They can only be driven by someone who has a current Hackney Carriage Drivers Licence. At present we do not have any hackney carriages.
