The spit had carbs which cut the engine out in negative G dives wheras the Me109 had fuel injection, so spit pilots had to roll and dive, hurricanes would target bombers whilst spits took on fighters (when possible) german fighter pilots would never admit to being shot down by a hurricane, legend has it that under the castle vale council estate were buried many aircraft and engines from the spitfire factory after WW2 I also know where a big hole was dug and dozens of Reliant Scimitars were buried en-masse but thats hardly as significant |
