Polish conman enjoys luxury European weekend

According to reports, a Polish trickster enjoyed a weekend flying round Europe in a private jet and staying in expensive hotels after conning a company that organises holidays for the super-rich that he was good for the money. Bernard Ch, a 21-year-old from the north east Polish town of Szczynto, managed to forge a money transfer to the company. All the relevant documents had arrived at the travel firm on the Friday, and it was assumed that the £33,300 promised was going to appear in the account first thing Monday morning.
Police reports indicate that Mr Ch was then taken by helicopter to the capital, Warsaw. From there he was transferred to a private jet and made stops in Amsterdam and Paris before flying home.
The con man apparently stayed at some of Europe’s finest hotels, although the Polish police will not divulge the establishments’ names. He also visited expensive nightclubs and restaurants and enjoyed a shopping spree while in Paris. The travel firm was so convinced that Mr Ch was able to afford the trip that it supplied him with chauffer-driven limos, an interpreter and apparently even a glamorous assistant in charge of petty expenses.
After flying back to Poland, Mr Ch checked himself into a luxurious hotel. By now he apparently realised the police had become aware of his con so he reportedly staged a heart attack and was taken to hospital. He then escaped through a back entrance but was apprehended later.
Mr Ch is now awaiting trial where he could face as much as eight years behind bars. The judge ordering his detention described Mr Ch as an extremely clever young man.
