individual taxi drivers in York are now getting letters from the parking enforcement department director of concerns over the complaints that they are receiving, re taxi drivers using the closed rank at Duncombe place in York in the early hours of the morning

i wonder who's complaining, could it be the Hotel manager, he boobed with the last letter to the Council he sent which turned out to be a proved lie, he cant discuss it with taxi license dept now, they sussed him out, so now he hits the parking dept

they say the rank is shut after 2200hrs and you cant sit and wait on double yellows, if a parking attendant sees this they will issue tickets

so what about ranks with private cars parked on them, every other motorists flouting the parking law at night around town, kebab shops with delivery vehicles mounting pavement, blocking traffic etc etc

its now nearly 3 years since they closed the rank

They can send out as many letter as they like, but until a ticket arrives on a cab it matters not.

Chances of ticket enforcement after 22.00pm, slim at most methinks.

That doesn't mean the tickets comply with TMA 2004 and are enforceable!

The hotel manager complained to the council about noise, which turned out to be from youths drinking in the nearby gardens near a memorial, this was turned into a no alcohol zone, and the noise disappeared, his argument was blown to peices when a guest commented on a travel website that he had enjoyed a quiet and peaceful nights sleep, on a weekend night when the town was busy, the taxi association had a meeting on Tuesday with the council, and they have agreed to re look at the situation in 2011.
