Going back a few years the price of an private hire office used be the number of drivers paying rents & then it used to be 2k for a driver so if you had 50 drivers you wud pay 100k lately the price has gone up to 5k a driver so now if uve got 50 drivers the office is worth 250k considering that wud any person buy a base of 20 drivers for 100k when 20 drivers paying £80 a week wud just about cover your expenditure in the office also is the price of offices across the country on a par wid here or has it gone stupid in the midlands???????? |

I suspect those selling think things haven't gone mad. Supply and demand. Not too sure I like the idea of buying and selling drivers though.

![]() It is not realy buying and selling drivers though is it? If I were to buy Marks and Spencer, would I be buying the staff? |

I know tell of a base owner looking to sell a circuit of 140 cars (£85/wk base rents), the problem is hes planning to start a new base only 5 miles down the road in the same LA using a front man.... |

so he sells business to joe bloggs, with 140 drivers, who may then choose to join him at his new office, leaving joe with potentially an office and no staff/drivers. Nice earner for him, hope joe has deep pockets. |

Ive warned the "front man" that selling a business will include a "will not strt/trade same business/20mile radius" clause, plus anyone with £200K to buy the firm could just turn nasty when the cack hits the fan, and kneecaps+shotguns dont mix.... |

If I were to buy Marks and Spencer, would I be buying the staff? No, but in your scenario it would equate to buying punters, which is what drivers are to firms. |

If I were to buy Marks and Spencer, would I be buying the staff? A warehousing/distribution firm i did work for won a contract for an office supplies distributor but had to offer the outgoing contractors staff the positions even though it was different site 15 miles away so i ended up ferrying the poles/rumanians over to have a look while they decided if they wanted the jobs, so yes, you could possibly be buying the staff under EU employment laws |
