I am wondering if all areas include a meter check in there vechile inspection test. i.e do they take your taxi out on the road and check the distances with pre placed poles

every car, every hackney, every 6 months, inc. in test fee of £60.

if new tarrif applied or unit repaired or for any other reason unsealed £14 to check and seal.

Every tariff increase. or snap inspection for free

Yeah our LO comes out of his office and checks after the meter change, usually, but he hasn't this time

Previously, when a hack, a tariff rise meant Pitts attending nearby to the rank and all hacks having the rates input at a cost of £10 -- cash/no invoice.....

Ours are checked and sealed, and not checked again unless the seal is gone.

Brum's is once per council financial year & are tested by Trading Standards (not the licensing department). If there is a fare increase, then the once a year is jigged to coincide with that, otherwise the meters are tested anyway.

Taximeters are also tested if the seal is broken & on new or replacement cabs.

A meter test certificate is issued for all meters that pass, showing the meter model, serial number & vehicle registration of the cab it is fitted to. The Trading Standards meter certificate must be produced at vehicle relicensing or your HCV ain't relicensed until the certificate is produced.

All tests are included in the HCVL fees.

Trading Standards department are paid for taximeter testing from the licensing department's funds by internal fund transfer.
