Fare increases.

25 years of Taxi driving in the City of Lincoln, and every time that an increase has been proposed, there has been a very vocal minority of proprietors who have objected to the increase for the usual reasons, such as wrong time, (without having a clue as to when the "right" time is) you'll kill the job off, (without having a clue what to do to revive the job) You get the picture, I would imagine.

Insurance up 40%?

Fuel rapidly rising, soon to record highs?

VAT up to 20%?

Council fees up, up, up?

THEY don't worry about price increases, do they?

The idea that NOT increasing fares will increase custom is absurd.

DISCUSS.

If an increase is reasonable, then punters will not decrease.

Asking for smaller regular increases avoids having to ask for one large increase. Having no increase at all when costs are rising is in effect taking a pay cut.

The last time was a hack i noticed every time the council upped the meter rate they also increased the number of service buses and the token allowance for OAPs which hit trade even harder....

I can remember when the trade in Carlisle considered going from 90p flag to £1.

They'll never pay it some people moaned....I'm not having it done said others (who were incidentally the first ones to have their meters done).

When costs increase fares have to follow, not to increase fares, when all the costs are going up around them, is patently stupid and never increases the number of passengers.

The obvious call from the doomsayers is the PH trade (BC alluded to this in Charles 007 apology thread). PH should have no input into HC fares like HC has no input into PH fares. PH should be regarded as an entirely different trade, because of course they are, phoning a PH firm is a choice.

What the LA put on the farecard is a maximum fare, drivers can and do charge less.

There's a lot to be said for swinging easier, I mean nobody wants to come up short of the green now do they. Surely if you're using your putter you're already on the green or have I as ever totally missed the benefit this video :?
