PENANG: Sexual abstinence in taxis! Nowadays, taxi drivers not only fear encountering big-bully passengers who refuse to pay the fare, but also permissive passengers who treat their cabs like hotels, forcing them to post "sexual abstinence" reminder stickers in their taxis.
Cabbies in Kuala Lumpur recently have frequently come across passengers who like to have sex in their cars. As such some of them have resorted to posting reminder stickers in their vehicles that prohibit passengers from making indecent acts in the car. There is an image of a couple kissing on the sticker, along with a big red X.
Recently, a reader named Mr. Chen was taking a taxi in Kuala Lumpur, when he found such a sticker affixed to the door of the cab. Out of curiosity, he asked the driver for the reason. He was told that Kuala Lumpur cabbies had often encountered passionate couples, who not only kissed and fondled in the back seat of the car, but some would even go to the extent of having sex in the car, staging a scene for the taxi driver to "enjoy."
Degree of audacity unbelievable
This cabbie who served passengers from the low-cost airport terminal, said that the lustiness of some of these customers was incredible. Not only would they act boldly the moment they got on the vehicle, some would even engage in sex in broad daylight on the cab.
Faced with these amorous men and women, taxi drivers in Kuala Lumpur, apart from feeling embarrassed, have had to post "sexual abstinence" reminder stickers in their vehicles in order to avoid having their taxis becoming soiled and reduced to a "cheap hotel".
Kissing OK, but no indecent behaviours
Mr. Zeng Wan-sen who’s had 30 years of driving experience said that he has encountered three to four times passengers who kissed and fondled each other in the back seat.
"Although some passengers would kiss and pet each other when they were in heat, but this kind of thing does not happen often."
He pointed out that, affectionate passengers giving in to the temptation to kiss in the cab, is merely a small matter.
"As long as they did not make further lascivious acts, I can still accept."
He also pointed out that from his experience, the protagonists were mostly foreigners, between the ages of 30 to 40 years old. But some females could also be local women.
Passengers performing oral sex in taxi
Even though the situation in Penang may not be as serious or rampant as in Kuala Lumpur, but Penang taxi drivers have also encountered "strange" incidents.
The treasurer of Penang Federation of taxi drivers Association, Mr. Zeng Wan-sen noted that there was once a taxi driver who’s had only about a year’s experience meeting this type of passionate couple.
He said that although the situation is not as out of control as in Kuala Lumpur, with passengers blatantly having sex in the cab, but the incident should also be classified as "restricted". That was a couple having oral sex openly in the car.
"It happened quite some time ago. This driver was taking this couple one day, when he noticed that the woman was getting closer and closer to the man. Finally the two were completely silent in the back seat."
"The cabbie said that he could already 'feel' that they seemed to be doing that thing, but because he was driving and felt that it might be rude of him to suddenly turn around to look at them. Hence he did not dare to turn around to see what they were doing."
"When they finally got to the destination and the couple left after paying the fare, the cabbie went to the back seat to check and found a piece of tissue paper stained with some odorous fluid."
He pointed out that it was then that the taxi driver could be sure that the couple had really had sex in the vehicle. And he was angry that they would even do such a thing in his car.
Few amorous passengers in Penang
Mr. Zeng also revealed that the simpler sentiments of Penang and the nightlife there not being as colourful as Kuala Lumpur meant that there were not as many "ardent" passengers as in Kuala Lumpur.
"Penang is also much smaller than Kuala Lumpur. So that customers often take a taxi for only a few minutes, whereas in Kuala Lumpur, it takes much more time to get from one place to another."
He said that in a short drive, the passengers did not have the time to take further action, so in Penang taxis, one would encounter at most actions such as kissing and fondling.
To this end, he pointed out that Penang cabbies did not plan to follow the practice of taxi drivers in Kuala Lumpur, where stickers reminding the passengers not to act indecently in the car could often be seen. Translated by Adeline Lee/Guang Ming Daily
