Have any of you peeps got a PCV Op license ? If so ( or if you know about these things) could you point me in teh right direction as to how you go about getting one etc Please, Dave |

You don't need a transport manager if you are applying for a restricted PCV. |

thanks for the links Wannabe Its a national license i'll need as its an 18 seater and i think restricted can only do up to 16 I may well be able to employ a transport manaer though so ill look a bit further into that |

If I recall correctly you dont need a Transport Manager If you run 2 or less vehicles of no more that 16 passenger seats each and that the percentage of income these vehicles generate is no more than 40% of your overall gross income of that particular business. and then you can run them on a public service operators licence. or has all that changed in the last 3 years? |

I don't like it, but more importantly neither do the DfT and VOSA.

plus it allows uncontrolled (ish) use of "larger" vehicles without planning controls for noise and nusiance and (fairly) unchecked drives to maybe abuse driver hours? 9-16 passenger seats require a full D1 licence (unless its a limo of course, self drive hire....  )

No It does'nt Drivers still have to hold a full PCV lincence, vehicles are subject to the same regular inspection rules as the full National licence holders. You may be getting confused with section 19 permits and voluntary drivers. Some people have tried to use it instead of local authority for 8 seaters but the TC's are paying closer attention to this situation. They are however licensed. |

D1 is "minibus" (9-16 passenger vehicle) D is 16+ |
