I was just reading Toots' signature.

The very powerful & the very stupid have one thing in common. They don't alter their views to fit the facts, they alter the facts to fit their views.

I am having just this problem at the moment with our LO. It is very frustrating.

Had that on Saturday with a lorry driver who phoned up complaining about a driver having checked the facts with the driver I phoned the bloke back and he had completely changed his story of what happened and was expecting me to believe him after pointing out the discrepancies in his version from the first phone call he proceeded to insist on his version and refused to give me any details of who his employers were etc so that i could contact them to verify the facts as he was fitted with a tracker and forward facing CCTV allegedly ended up losing my temper with him
