I have a driver who leases a car. The vehicle broke down on tuesday and went back to the leasing firm for repair and he has collected it today and arrived back WITH NO PLATE ON THE BACK. it apparently fell off during vehicle recovery and the council have been informed but a replacement has not yet been issued. The vehicle does have the windscreen sticker bearing the plate number and details

Is the vehicle legal ?
Is the vehicle still insured ?

If we photocopy the window "sticker" and display that in the back window would it make a difference

your help in clearing this up would be appreciated as I am unsure as to wether to tell the driver he can't work until the plate arrives

It's academic anyway i have now found out that Highway services have also forgotten to road tax the vehicle and another vehicle on my board so that's 2 cars off the road for Saturday night !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why do these drivers rent off this shambles of a company Highway Services are useless !!!

in my area you are £20 for a replacement plate and make sure that it is securely fitted to the rearmost part of the car and securely fixed there with screws and not on the back window which alot of them do i always drilled holes into the bumper and put them on that way but now i get a square rear NO. plate and put the two of them side by side like this, but its hard to understand why one would fall off it's never happened to me anyways Image

If you have informed the council and they haven't supplied a replacement yet, then I think you should be ok.
