I was on a rank last night, in the middle of taking an airport booking when the rank moved and I was still on the phone to a potential customer when loads of cars started to blow their horns and tell me to move up and then the customer wanted to pay by credit card, then 5 taxis overtook me I confronted them, what would other people do in that scenario?

A professional taxi driver would not be asking such a daft question!

You weren't available for immediate hire because you were taking a booking. Why should everyone else have to wait?

Apart from the obvious that you should have a hands free kit for your mobile phone and could then have moved up the rank while talking...without this you should have said to the punter hold on a min while I find a pen and taken this time to move up. The practice by some frustrated drivers to not move up to wind everyone up is one of the things that really pi$$es me off of late! I drive around them :D

either way you were in the way.....move or be moved, how long did you expect the cars behind to wait?...were they to know what you were doing?

i meant were your airport punters paying upfront by card/on the phone

if you were 12 cars back you were causing an obstruction

"You want to pay by card? I'll get the details when I pick you up"
or "can I phone you back?"

What do you do if they phone while you're on a job?
You're taking the pi$$ if you think everyone should wait for you.

You could report them to the council for queue jumping, but they could report you for not moving up.

Round here that is a 3 penalty point offence if you are lucky you won't have been reported to the council but the thing is why not ask the person on the end of the phone to hold on 10 secs whilst you move down ? Cars not moving down are VERY annoying and our LO makes it clear that if cars refuse to pull down to the front of the rank you are entitled to go around them in this instance you are the one in the wrong
