Traffic in Melton was an absolute nightmare because of this.

yes the queues on the A1 to turn onto the 606 were huge. I took one look and thought Pete will be happy

I always wonder why people who make a mess with the quote thing function in real life.

A similar taxi driver, for example, mabye can't be bothered moving up the rank, and if that inconveniences other taxi drivers then tough

Or they deliberately won't move their taxi up the rank because they actually enjoy inconveniencing other drivers

Or, if they're in local government, say, they'll set up a four-way traffic light system and have it in place for a month just to repair a pothole

Either because that's in their 'health and safety' mindset, or because they just enjoy making motorists' lives a misery...

So, who knows, maybe that was why traffic in Melton was an absolute nightmare

Yours feeling very special :D

Ive heard it all.....how bad its been and how great its been, inc one who said after he vanished early off the ranks one night... "I had a rank to London, dropped off and a bloke saw my signs and said he needed a taxi BACK......"

Funny thing was his distinctive Merc 230 was on his drive in tamworth ...

and another who claimed he did £240 in 3hrs off the rank alone.....

They guy who claimed he had the double London later had a Rover 800 when a drunk came in the offioce with £50 slurring he worked "on the new bridge".......after much deliberation we realised he meant the 2nd severn crossing so the bright lad took him... (122 miles one way)

sadly a week later he drove through a deep puddle, sucked up water and the Rover "was over"....

I do miss the gallows humour of the base, we had a lovely guy driving, utterly reliable, honest as the day is long but as bright as a 5 watt bulb, he had a takeway to deliver to house number 20 and radio the base saying he could find 19 and 21 but not 20 "try across the road" said the base...

we ran a strict "long job book" and he got a run to skegness (before sat navs) so someone wrote out the directions on a A4 pad to skeggy, he said "how do i get back?"........someone said turn the sheet upside down Rob......

Having to pay the congestion charge on Easter Sunday.

But then again someone has got to finance the Mayor's nutty projects.
