| Post subject: | PLATING CAR 7 RADIO QUESTION |
Hi folks I should get my car next week sometime.. I was wondering if is possible to fix the PHC plates in side the car on the back window rather have them fixed to back and front bumper? Or is there a way to fix them without drilling like a semi fixture ... Also the radio data unit screen is there a way to fix that on the dash without drilling into it i dont want to ruin my new car

Also the radio data unit screen is there a way to fix that on the dash without drilling into it i dont want to ruin my new car Could be, Plate car 7 come in, your times up You have not been reading your bylaws have we, or even the forum post, plates have to be fittted securely, I wouldn't worry about drilling as at the end of the day there is no value, number plate tape or internal mirror fixing tape, is the next best thing, same for data head |

I drilled mine - only cost £30 to have the holes repaired through one of those "Smart Repair" places (they specialise in dent removal, chip removal etc - I have been using the same one for years) Oh, and be sure to mount the plates at the correct distance on the O/S - or the car WILL fail a PH inspection (guidlines are included when you collect the plates from the City Chambers) You also must have a backflash and call sign displayed on the rear window at all times (or risk being sent home by our friendly enforcement guys) Oh the joys

As Pete said there will be little value left in your car with maybe 200k miles on it fix them on the bumpers much more professsional than stuck in the window.GOOD LUCK |

Also the radio data unit screen is there a way to fix that on the dash without drilling into it i dont want to ruin my new car A mojo bracket will mean you needn't drill at the back, but at the front it's slightly different. Also the fitters of the radio equipment should be able to fit the system without the need for a drill. Although a driled ariel is best, or so I'm told. But as has been said, when you motor has done over a quarter of a million miles, a few holes here and there ain't going to make a lot of difference.

Mine have a plate fixed behind the number plate (drilled) then my PHV plate is fixed to that so when it goes, there's no holes to fix. But Sussex is correct, when its time to swap you'll proberely sell it on to another PH driver cos it wont be worth Jack. |

As the others have said, the car will lose a lot in value, so the odd hole here or there won't make a lot of diffence to the value. If you keep it clean, well presented and well maintained then that'll have a lot more to do with its eventual resale value then a couple of small holes. You can fit plates using strong stickers if your LA allows this. |

Remember one time looking everwhere to find a place to mount a data unit without using screws. The driver said, "just bung a couple of screws in". I said, "But it's a new car and you don't want it looking like it's been a taxi." When the laughing died down, I realised it was a new London Cab!
