Trust me Mr. T. you have nothing to prove to me. Nor could you, your little world is of no value. Illusions, a world for little people who need to look up before they look down, you have seen battle Mr. T that I have no doubt but you have lost your way.

You are the very thing you tried to escape. You need them more than they need you, if only they could realise this you would be nothing.

Mr. T Lord of Sefton, my ar**, save it for those who bend. Let me tell you something Mr. T. in my world fu**s like you don’t even exist.

Anger no, truth yes.

Mutual ground, well here goes, don't talk sh**e, let the truth will out?

My Dear Skull

It would seem that rather than using your brain you still simply react with your anger.

I posted the above to see whether or not there is any mutual ground. To achieve this you have to start somewhere. By exchanging views and exchanging the reasons for your views there is a possibility of the other person understanding your reasoning, or even you understanding theirs.

It was not MY decision that any driver who had previously been issued a plate would be exempt. In fact Mr. Jolly Roger I strongly argued against it, but as we work in a democracy in Sefton, and the drivers and owners and private hire all have a say in creating the criteria by which we work,it was their decision and not mine. Democracy means you accept the majority vote............

P.S. Skull, I have been in the trade a long time, been places you would not even go. Your abuse is like water off a duck's back to me.

Mr T ..... taxi baron extraordinaire!!!!!!!

Democracy is founded on the Judicial System. The people without equal access to legal representation have no control over the Government hence no Democracy. What you have is a show election where the people get to vote. The Government then walks off hand in hand with corporate businesses looking for new ways to control the masses. A bit like what you have in Sefton. Your “Sefton Democracy” works the same way, with little or no chance of bringing your case before the courts and no Judge to adjudicate surprise, surprise no Democracy.

So you see Mr. T “Lord of the flies”, your so called majority is a dictatorship dependent on the ignorance of the people it controls. Unless you have become a High Court Judge in your long illustrious past, your vote was little more than summary justice handed down by Mr. T and the rest of the flies.

Save the pious bull for people who can’t work you out.

BTW Mr T I bet you and your chums on the council have spent many hours drinking cups of tea, working out how next to carve up the cake.

Next you'll be telling me what a great guy you are

I am sure you see yourself as some sort of benevolent dictator Mr. T but your pretentious self-seeking arrogance betrays you. You would be nothing if it were not for all your little minions fawning over you. You see Mr. T in your life nothing has a value. You need to see your world through the eyes of someone who has less than you. You need to look down to see up. Like I said before, you need them more than they need you. If only they could see it. You feed on making people dependent and I have no doubt you have carved Sefton in your own image.

You’re just dog collecting fleas Mr. T.

What a shallow worthless existence you have. I almost feel sorry for you. You see Mr. T I am only interested in the man and what makes him tick and you are no different to the people you hold sway over. A liberator of minds you are not. A fearful dictator you most certainly are. You’d better hope your little followers remain frightened and ignorant, if they start thinking for themselves you could be in trouble.

Need I go on?

Well done guys. I was missing his Marxist/Leninist/Trotskyist take on the simple things in life such as cab driving.
Looking for his next diatribe as to why poor old me should be manning the barricades because I am a down trodden serf that prefers to rent instead of buying.
Welcome back Skull.
Ged

How could you confuse what I have said with Communism? A free market economy is a capitalist system not a government command economy like we have in the taxi trade.

Ged if brains were dynamite?

The thing about restricted numbers is that it shouldn't really appeal to anyone of any political persuasion, because it restricts market entry so shouldn't really appeal to people like laissez faire economists, and it also allows people to be controlled and exploited financially, thus should be given short shrift by those of a more Marxist persuasion, and of course it's difficult to see how it can appeal to anyone between these two extremes.

Had it been badges that were numerically restricted then things might have been different - it would then appeal more to the left because it would be less exploitative and foster equality, at least in relation to those who actually had a badge, and it would moreover mean that while drivers would be making 'excess profits', they would at least have to get off their backsides to do so. Of course, this would no more appeal to those on the right than taxi vehicle quotas.

Of course, some try to ridicule analyses like this, because frankly they can't think of anything better to say.

I should have said government sanctioned cartel not command economy.

Anyway I’m blaming Ged.

Skull even with all your ranting and raving, you have still not managed to get your free plate.

You go about how PH has taken all the work - why dont you join them?

As usual you resort to your base instinct to get your point across. And as for restricted numbers, they work, a survey is done and if thier is excess demand then more plates are put on. Otherwise the market would be swamped, e.g. Sheffield, Carlisle etc.

As for Mr T, well hes a LOT smarter than you.

My Dear Mr. Skull. Jolly Roger, Captain Pugwash, or whatever.

You seem to be blessed with the ability to know and see how life is in an area hundreds of miles away from you. It must give you great pleasure in your omnipotent state to know the needs of people you have never met.

Yes it does you see I have suffered at the hands of people like you in your omnipotent state.

It seems to be your goal in life to alienate yourself from the normal, everyday person with common sense. Why, only you know. From everything you have written, your aims are purely selfish to which you openly agree. You spin any argument to suit your own purpose, based purely on abuse.

No spin Mr. T what we have up here is a cartel. The C.E.C supports vested interest groups whose goal it is to fix licence plate prices with a direct view to limit supply and competition.

Over supply of drivers compete for limited shifts with plate holders increasing fix priced rentals. Licence plate premiums go up against a steady down turn in market share negating a reduction in the economic value of a licence plate as an asset.

I have yet to see you debate sensibly on any topic with any person who disagrees with you without resorting to constant abuse.

It’s not that hard to understand Mr. T. Its called having “contempt” for those who think they have the right to abuse a privilege existence in a free market economy.

It does not surprise me in the slightest that no-one in the Edinburgh Council gives you any credence. In fact I am surprised that you have not been placed in a strait jacket and committed.

Well here’s the bad News the courts agree with me “Judicial Review” remember. Sheriff Liddle couldn’t believe the Councils QC when referring to Jacobs stating “no unmet demand”. Any sane person would be wondering where all the work was going? But not in Edinburgh, give it to the Ph and the council bus company. But no plates for drivers just higher rentals, that’s if you can get a job.

I have often found that when two sides of an opposing argument take the trouble to sit down "round the table" and discuss fully, there can be found a middle ground, and even separate issues that they both agree on. For this to be achieved there must be the willingness to listen. This seems to be a quality you lack.

Funny you should say that Mr. T this is exactly what I though before they kicked me out the company. I had a £25 fine for improper use of the data system. The letter stated once the fine was paid my pin would be reinstated. The owner went to pay it and was told I had to re-apply to get back in and guess what? Ye thanks but no thanks. I was an owner in the company for 10 years and never had a customer complaint.

I then went to ComCab. I wrote a letter to the manager stating my concerns with wheelchairs. I asked them to cover me in the event of an accident. Their response was to phone up the owner telling her to get rid of me before being given the chance to explain myself at their hearing.

Normally, I do not talk about myself, I talk about Sefton and the way we work, but for your information I have rented a PHC and hackney cab in the past, and I have spent years crawling out of the financial gutter. I did not achieve this by sitting on my fat backside constantly whinging, whinging, whinging, but like most of the posters on these sites I worked long hours, and then some.

You don’t have to explain yourself to me Mr. T I would rather judge people by their actions. It’s the here and now that matters to me.

Your opinion of me matters not a jot.

Sting a little did it?

Really, not doing to well in this debate if he needs your help or perhaps you've noticed?

BTW have a look at your post you have contradicted yourself. If surveys work then why would you need one if the Ph increase to meet the excess demand?

Not much point in having a survey now is there?

Could it be just to keep a cap on numbers and an artificial plate and rental premiums for the local cartel?

What do you think 187ums?

Ever though of becoming a rocket scientist?

Could you explain this, since I seem to recall Mr Casey persistently complaining that drivers in Carlise 'only' had to do a school run and come out on Saturday night?
