I had an email from our LO this week to inform me that my medical is due on 2nd November. been to the doctors and I can't get an appointment until after that date. Could be interesting couple of weeks. The Council say you can see any doctor who has access to your medical records but the medical practice say you must see your own doctor.

Our Local GP practice doesnt do Taxi/PH medicals, but a near by one does, all I need to take along when i have a medical is a printed summary sheet of my medical record from my GP who is quite happy to supply it, its only an A4 sized document showing a brief medical and medicinal history.....your GP is wrong.

ours is the same it takes an impossibly long tome to get an appointment costs a fortune and there is no other surgery in town plus the council used to mandate that the medical is with your own GP

Mine due in February but I'm considering not renewing

You can access your medical records, so ask your practice to send them over.

For what purpose? At the moment our Council say that the doctor has to have access to your record. I doubt that they will say that I can obtain my record and take it to another doctor. but i will ask obviously.

Oh, how I ( don’t) miss all the bull shine connected with driving a taxi…

10 years ago my GP declined to do medicals. So if the council insist on you seeing your own doctor, how would you square that circle.

For my PSV medical I use a specialist PSV medical doctor in Ashford, a nice African gent who charges £50 to sign the forms for me, no problems. If it's good enough for the DVLA it should be good enough for a local council.

I rang one of the company's that specialise in taxi and HGV medicals and they told me that I would have to bring my full medical history with me. I said I have access to this online and they said that it had to be printed off by my doctor.

The doctor who does my medical informed me to print my records off and just hand them to him at the appointment.

The other issue with printing them off is that my full medical history runs to a couple of hundred pages.
