I am very frequently asked whether I accept credit cards but do not have the facility available to me.The company which I work for did at one time say they were going to supply the equipment and facilities to do this but have done a uturn as they think it would be too much extra work for them.
Is there any way I can accept credit cards in my own right which could be paid into my own bank account without costing me a fortune and without any risk of not being paid.
Thanks

Hello i'm from a company called SilverPay and we provide chip and pin fully mobile credit card terminals specifically designed for cabs. this is brilliant for security and speed of payments. I'm just looking for more of an understanding your views on taking card payments so we can offer the best service.
does anyone take cards already or want to? and if you don't, why not?
Any input much appreciated. Thank You

I personally would be quite happy to take credit card payments if it didn`t cost me too much money.I am sure that being able to accept credit cards would give me an advantage.I would be looking for a chip and pin terminal that I could use in my car for any journey.I would obviously like it to be able to confirm that a transaction had been successful before the passenger left the vehicle.
Do you have a website I could look at with examples etc.

The cost of an individual terminal is £27.66 (exc VAT) per month, and we then charge 6% per transation. We can set the machine to pass on that charge to the customer if you wish to do so. We can set 3, 6 or 10% on the fare. if you decided to pass on the 10% we would rebate you the remaining 4% and that can go towards the cost of the terminal.
We pay you via Bacs to your current account or business account. You receive your payments approx ten after the transation has been processed.

Thanks for the info that is exactly the kind of thing I am looking for but at £27.66 per month is a lot more expensive than I expected.
Is there anything I could buy outright rather than pay a monthly fee and just then pay the 6% per transaction.

I think there is a system where you can use your mobile phone as a terminal. Not sure where I've seen it, but suspect you aint going to get any cheaper than that.
