Seeems that someone left or lost some computer equipment and cd's on Saturday night late on, they used my taxi and got the plate number, my name and where I live, I don't know this person, I live miles away out of town, or has the council gave out my name and details to them They the Council keep ringing me up asking where is the stuff, I said I ain't got it, they said its your responsibilty to hand it in as lost property I ain't got the stuff, don't know what there on about, I asked if it occurred to the Council if the person who lost the stuff left it somewhere else or even in the pub, have you thought about that, tell the person who lost the stuff to go back round the pubs or wherever they went that night apparently it is the same three people who came up to my taxi with some crates of ale bought from a shop, I put the ale in the boot, they had nothing else except a big bag of crips, now two days later they are looking for some computer gear to which I have never ever seen or laid eyes on The LO gave me the persons name and said he has known me a long time, these are young kids around 18 years old, why would I know them, they are not in my circle of friends, so the onus is on the cabby cos they have misplaced some item on a pub crawl, and I took them home |

I would have thought if the LO has given your name to someone then their up the creek without a paddle. If you'd have picked up a fare straight away then who know where it could be now? Sounds like it could be a scam to me, i'd tell the LO there's no sign of it. if he wants to continue corespondence then do it in writing, you have a living to make. Our office gets loads of calls asking about lost stuff, most of them dont know which company they used let alone the cab number! I know lots of drivers who just sling the stuff out of the window, it takes so long to fill in forms etc at the Police station, even then we're only allowed 10% or £10 which ever is the cheapest for the trouble. |

I would have no more conversation with anyone else unless in writing, i would also get my solicitor to write to the Cheif Executive of the council asking him/her to investigate from where a member of the public has aquired my personal details |

A list of hackney plate owners is kept in the records department of the Council offices and is classed as a public document, and any member of the public is entitled to make an appointmnet and view this register. You can copy all the details from this but the Council cannot supply name under the data protection act. |

A list of hackney plate owners is kept in the records department of the Council offices and as such is a public document and any member of the public is entitled to make an appointmnet and view this register. |

There is no need to be in the dark about this, the details to which you refer are set out in the act of 1847, which you can read by accessing the front page of TDO, under legislation, 1847 TPCA. http://taxi-driver.co.uk/ Regards JD |

I'm fully aware of that act but as most records are kept on computer the DPA kicks in, maybe unforseen in 1847, i would still persue it |
