Todays Telegraph reports the government looking for what laws the public would like changed, they are particularly interested in projects that will reduce the regulatory burden upon businesses.
Something that came up on Five Live today was to ban towns/cities twinning with towns/cities abroad.
Think of all the money that could be saved by stopping all these freebie trips by councillors.

I've just finished reading Clarksons last book, he seems to have the best suggestion with regards to town twinning, twin with a town in Africa, towns in the UK sponsoring towns over there, seems sensible to me.
Your right about the freebies though
