Post subject:  Ford Tourneo

If any driver has a Ford Tourneo can they please tell me what they are like and if they are any good, am finding it a bit hard to find reviews on them on the web?

I would like to know if they are comfortable to drive and if they are good for luggage space when they are full with 8 passengers?

Also, i have been reading the thread about leather seats and would like to know if it is possible to get leather seats in the Tourneo? Can you buy them with leather fitted or is it best to find someone who can re-upholster the seats in leather? The reason for leather is that i currently drive a Peugeot Eurotaxi with cloth seats, now the other week i picked up a half drunk woman in her mid-50's who we pick up regular and took her home, she sat in the back and was the last fare i had in the back until the end of my shift. The next day when i checked the back i found that she must have crapped herself as there was a stain of crap on the seat where she sat and it stunk! Well i wont carry her anymore and after alot of hard scrubbing the stain and smell went, but with leather i could have wiped it clean in a jiffy!!

Any comments on the Ford Tourneo or good vehicle that can carry 8 passengers would be great.

Thanks

Certainly seems that the Volkswagen Caravelle/shuttle is more popular.

And a callI received yesterday tells me that taxi companies can get bigger discounts currently.

I wouldnt go for leather, why pay good cash for drunks to spew on? why not go for normal washable plastic?
And an ejector seat would come in handy!!!

Personally i would like a stun field like in star trek! That way once i have been told where i am going i can stun they passengers so that they dont give me greif!! Alas, we can all but dream!!

I do prefer the VW Caravelle but the prices seem high and i cant seem to find any with leather and with 8 passenger seats. I just need a good alround good vehicle that can carry 8 passengers with luggage and is a pleaseure to drive for a budget of around 8K - 10K, any ideas??

As for leather, its not for the passengers comfort but for the ease of cleaning, off of things like poo!! and spew!!! to name but a few things!!

The ones I've seen could fit my motor in them, let alone luggage.

The VW seems to be more popular though.

Use the Mercedes Vito Extra long, bags of luggage space, nearly 70k in two years with only minor probs which have been sorted under warranty, dealer was a bit slow but constant nagging got them to do the work fairly quick.

have a look here theres a mercedes benz multi cab and a vw sportline both have leather as a option also you can have conference seating plus wheelkchair access, believe one of them maybe both have sliding doors on both sides. think you have to scroll down to about numbers 6 & 7
on the vehicle listings

both jubilee conversions

Hi,
haven't posted on here for years as I wasn't a full time operator before. I have got a 53 plate tourneo as a hackney in south gloucestershire. Although it is the old shape, I really rate it. They are cheaper to buy than the mercs and volkswagons etc and also cheaper to fix!
It easily takes 8 people in comfort and drives well fully loaded. I regularly drive up to heathrow with a full bus with luggage and it copes very well.
A few of the guys here have the new shape tourneo and they really rate them. More toys than mine and also fitted with the 135bhp engine with 6 speed gearbox.
You can get the new shape with leather but they are really rare!

My "old shape" Tourneo (2.0ltr Tdci, not Tddi) averaged 33mpg, luggage space better than a E7 (not hard) and as much as a standard VW, but the lwb VW has 50% more

the VW comes with 2.0 or 2.5 tdi engines, the latter (with auto) gives about 22mpg

Fords are easier to maintain and repair

I wouldnt pay extra for leather so 1 old soak can puke on/crap on it
