Where's the only cab rank in the country where 60% of Taxi drivers have to turn their for hire light off, 50 metres before they drive past it?

Where is the only rank in the country where 60% of Taxi drivers can't pick up within a 50 metre radius?

Where's the only Taxi rank in the country where 60% of Taxi drivers can't pick up a private telephone booking within a 50 metre radius?

Who is the only council in the country that makes you sign a decleration saying you won't pick up within 50 metres of the main public Taxi rank or ply for hire on the main public Taxi Rank.

Who were the persons who approached the council in 1995 with the request to ban all new saloon car licenses from plying for hire on the main public Taxi Rank?

Who are the persons who have consistantly fought to deny 60% of the local Carlisle Taxi trade from plying for hire on the main public Taxi rank?

Answers on a postcard please.

Trevor I would like a quote from you and Mr Gateshead Angel over this situation in Carlisle, can I use one you have already offered in the other thread?

If anyone else would like to give me a quote in respect of the can of worms in Carlilse then i'll consider it?

For everyones information the 60% of the taxi trade in Carlisle that is excluded from this main taxi rank have been fighting this unlawfull condition for years, they even had a local radio discussion about it, so now you the know facts you might be a little more sympathetic to the reality of the situation instead of burying your head in your backsides just because someone you know just happens to be one of the pivotal players in this can of worms.

JD

I have no problem giving you a quote about my views on the situation in Carlisle.

Every licensed Hackney Carriage driver working in Carlisle has had opportunity to object to the situation for 11 years. The local TOA has seen membership numbers grow over that time at a rate better than most other areas, which would suggest that the average cabbie in Carlisle is happy that their views are being properly represented within the council. I think the only real question is the involvement of a self proclaimed "taxi legal expert" from Manchester who seems to be mounting a personal crusade against the administration officer of the National Taxi Association who lives in the area involved.

The actual situation in Carlisle has afforded both drivers and customers choice and has secured the future of available, affordable, accessible transport for the members of the community who rely on the services of taxis to be socially included.

I believe that this clearly shows the identification of local transport needs by the council and their policy reflects those needs.

That is my quote on the matter and I only give you permission to quote the whole piece in its entirety, and would much prefer you not to use any other comment I have made on here in part in any publication.

If a group has been fighting this condition for years, and if this condition is unlawful, how come their objections have not been successful?

Sorry JD but just because you think a local situation is wrong doesn't make it so .................. and I think you have adopted a certain amount of "journalistic licence" in an attempt to discredit an individual, as the facts that you yourself have stated do not add up.

If indeed Carlisles HC drivers are so aggrieved why has the Carlisle TOA declared a greater number of members this year to the NTA than Newcastle upon Tyne.

Perhaps the first question should be the first question asked to all new licensed drivers.

What business do you fail in before?
