I suggest TDO will have to alter the system on enlisting new members with some form of security check, maybe one idea would be for new recruits to fill in questioner, before they join, ie. boni fide taxi drivers or PH to keep out the riff raft |

Why do you say that Pete? The obvious spammers can register (eg porn, drugs, casinos) but their account isn't activated and then their ID is deleted. As for the rest, it's difficult to check their bona fides without going through a huge rigmarole which would be very bureaucratic and which would put people off joining. Problem is that many people in the trade don't like giving their personal details, and since we don't want to discourage free speech then that's the way it has to be. Imperfect as it is, I think the current system is about as good as it gets. |

I understand the problems with undesirables but would suggest that any checks would be futile. How would you go about verifying the credentials of prospective joiners? L.A.'s would be unable to authenticate a user id, and even if they could they'd be unwilling. As has already been said the current method is, to my mind and limited knowledge, as good as it gets. All the administrators can do is be vigilant as they are and hopefully this will evetually dissuade these a£@eholes from continuing. I have looked in on other forums and have to say that in my opinion you will have to look very hard to find one that comes even close in content and quality to this one. Keep up the good work TDO. |

We have had that system for about 2 years now. Pity the poor mush that has to keep the spammers away.
