No Thanks
You will find that almost every desperate person who cannot make something work on their own initiative will use whatever desperate means they can in order to succeed, even if that means writing to every single subscriber on TDO.
Mr T did the same thing when the caabby forum was set up but it didn't make much difference to that outfit and I doubt it will make much difference to this outfit.
TDO has never solicited subscribers and it never will.
I notice not one person connected with the administration of TDO got a pm, therefore I suspect the persons who did the soliciting new precisely who not to contact?
There are many people who are desperate to have a forum as successful as TDO, especially a certain advertising man behind a certain magazine.
It is no secret that this advertising person solicited the help of TDO in order to raise the profile of their magazine and that they were desperate to get their hands on TDO.
I suspect the person in question is still smarting from the fact that they can no longer post on TDO and that their continued efforts to register are very quickly nipped in the bud. I suppose it will come as no surprise to everyone that since they were banned the person in question has unsuccessfully tried to register on numerous occasions with several nicks in order to re invent themselves. I would say that amounts to more than a sign of desperation?
The problem with this particular person is that he is not a Taxi driver and he knows absolutely nothing about the Taxi trade.
Anyone in this gentleman's position will constantly need to impress advertisers that their money is not being wasted and it is in their best interest to advertise with him? These people need people like you in order that they can tell their advertisers that they have a core base of regular subscribers and that their advertising message is getting across.
I have a feeling that this persons Advertisers are already aware that his efforts to build a decent online taxi website and forum, have failed. Hence the desperation of writing to all TDO subscribers.
I suspect these failures prove that it takes more than just a website to attract subscribers, no doubt those who advertise with this publication will realise that? If they don't, then they must have more money than sense.
As far as I'm aware TDO has not "fully" investigated this occurrence but at the end of the day it is up to each individual to decide what they do online. I do not know for certain who made these approaches to subscribers on TDO but no doubt it would give whoever it was, some sort of artificial credibility in telling their advertisers that they had a substantial amount of members?
One of the main reasons why I personally decided to promote and edit a certain taxi magazine was because it had become increasingly obvious that the magazine in question was constantly copying the news items that first appeared on TDO. We did the hard work of researching these latest news items and this publication was just copying our hard work.
It is no surprise that since TDO gave this person their marching orders that the magazine is back to sqaure one. If you read the latest offering of his magazine you will notice that 95% of its content is an exact replica of what we had already published. The only difference is that we on TDO always give credit to the source of the story or information, whereas in many cases others do not.
I have no doubt whatsoever that the next offering of this magazine will also consist of 95% of information and data already made available on TDO.
The good news on that front is that TDO for sometime has had plans to publish its own magazine and as soon as events in Scotland have been satisfied then it will be full steam ahead for that project.
