re surface drainage charge on your water bill

mainly property built around 40 years ago or older, if your surface water drains into a soak away, dyke or river or gravel pit you are being overcharged by the water company

go outside and see where the surface water goes, if into doesn't go to a sewer you can claim this off your water bill,
example below, blue line is is surface water

Had words with them a few months ago.

Example

Used 50m3
remove 50m3
Surface water charge + £20

I asked that if i use 50m3 and pay for the removal of 50m3 and also pay for surface water removal what happens if i use 10m3 per annum to wash my car, that means i'm paying twice to remove 10m3 of water, because that 10m3 goes into the surface water drains which i'm paying towards, but theyre charging me to take it away on my house drainage as well?

They just said "oh there's an allowance built into the charge for that" so when i asked for that allowance to show on my bill so i could keep check on the ammount, they got all funny and put the phone down.
But they haven't heard the last of it, because when the tax man see's the claim for a % of my water bill he'll want to see the invoice :?
