Alright guys. Think I have the right section here for this. If not I apoligise in advance. Been a PH driver in Glasgow's east end now for about 2 months and love the job, however the PH was always my second option as I really want to drive a hack. I have two questions to ask here. 1) Having failed my knowledge test TWICE!! by only 1 mark I know I will get there eventually-hopefully sooner rather than later. I've been to the classes in the gorbals for a very long time now. I was wondering if anyone out there had access to the Glasgw practise test papers. I'm wiling to pay for a copy and collect. As i'm sick fed up of the adelphi centre and would rather ave the papers to do in my own time. As well as studying all districts ect in-between jobs in the car. 2)At the moment I'm hiring he car and radio from GPH(Glasgow Private Hire) for £260 a week including £10 a week excess. This car is mine 24/7 to work whenever I Want. I know alot of hacks are shifted onto two twelve, or three 8 hours shifts. Someone said to me that you can hire a hack for about £250 a week that is single shifted. i.e. yours 24/7 but doesnt have a radio. Is there any truth in this as I would abviously rather have that than only 12hrs a day in the cab. I'm putting in for my knowledge test again next week so wish me luck! cheers guys! |

Well you can have anything if you're willing to pay for it, and obviously you'll pay more for a single-track/collar or whatever you want to call it than a day or night track/collar. I doubt if you'll get a brand new TX for that kind of money though, probably one just a year or two away from the streets of Blackpool. |

I managed to get a copy of the test papers A-H from a friend and i'm constantly reading my notes and doing these practise papers in-between jobs. I think it's just my own way of learning but having the practise papers does kind of let me know how well I'm doing in terms of schools/hops ect. I'm currently getting 80+ each time so i'm going to apply for the test again this week and hopefully when i get a date i'll be getting 90+ Cheers guys |
