There aren't too many Fairway / FX4 cabs still working up here in Liverpool. In fact, the oldest I've seen recently is a J reg. (1992), there are a few K and L plates still knocking around but thats it. A lot of the early Metrocabs seem to have gone too. What's the oldest you've seen working lately? And no Blackpool drivers are to reply to this one. |

It was in tip top condition, but it had been plated back in July. I was'nt aware of any conversion system that could have been fitted to the Rover engine on the FX4's? |

One of my drivers has an N reg mondeo plated hackney which he has just put on (he suffers from expensive girlfriend syndrome so can't afford anything better !)
last year one of the other firms in town bought 2 fx4's at auction and put them on they lasted less than 6 months one had a dodgy bonnet catch and the bonnet flew open at speed the windscreen survived but the taxi sign and bonnet were badly damaged they then canibalised that one for spared for the other which was off the road within 2 months they learned their lesson the hard way fx4's are no good for flying up and down country lanes or cobbled roads !

There is a 'J' plate Fiat Tipo private hire knocking about in St. Helens. Apart from looking like it wouldn't fit anybody else in but the driver, it also smokes quite badly. I had the misfortune of being behind it once. |

There's an E/F reg (can't remember which) Volvo PH in Dundee which has been knocking about for years. Don't know if it's still around, but I saw it during the summer. Looks OK for its age, but must have a few miles on the clock. |

Regards JD And when we are bored with this game, today I saw a double decker school bus, registration B735 GCN, and I'm betting that it will not be hard to spot an even older one. |
