Post subject:  Goodbye TX1, hello TX2.
Well after much umming and aahing, I've finally decided on an 05 TX2 from Mann and Overton.

It's the Gold spec model and comes with an upgraded timing chain, new pulleys and tensioner. It's also covered by a three year warranty.

The last owner has looked after it, and it comes with a FSH and 70'000 on the clock.

It's a bit of a risk, and to be honest I was close to signing up for a new TX4, but this one should do for the next three years and I'll re-evaluate the market . . . . or even the alternatives (!) then.

GBC owned cab number 3 hit's the streets in a couple of weeks. Any sensible offers for a gorgeous mint condition TX1, apply within. :wink:

The brake 'air intake' problem turned out to be (after changing everything 8 times) a cross threaded nut on the balance valve that sit's on the bulkhead. All that work and all it needed was one new pipe, one new valve. Marvellous. :roll:

That's not the reason I'm letting it go, it's still worth a reasonable sum at the moment, so I can either keep it and run it into the ground, or upgrade now.

A Taxi garage in the east end want it for their fleet, they offered £6700, which I can live with.

As a foot note, I did 'test drive' the TX4 to see if I could find any of Mr Bexleys problems, but it performed well, in fact I was quite tempted.

I even got a free LTI jacket for my troubles! :D

That, and a jacket peg so I can hang my new cab coat on it.

It's a good looking cab (to compliment the driver) Storm Grey, mint condition.

I think that's quite a reasonable sum, the TX1 engine still run around with 500K on the clock. That's another few years of taxi for renting out.

But the shame of going from a good TX1 to a TX2 shed, it would have been even worse if you had got the TX4, you would have ended up in Bexis hall of shame with you mug shot plastered all over TDO and other web sites, he may have even included you in his next U tube vid :shock: :shock: :shock: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol:

Please don't do it,I promise you,you will regret every bit of purchasing a tx 2 i have nothing but problems ever since i purchased the poxy thing in 2003...oil cooler,2 rads,heater matrix,heater valve,wiper motor,prop shaft,2 steering idlers,ally water pipe top of engine,headlights,deisel pump,water pump,alternater,to list just a few bits,I would never ever recommend purchasing to anybody ever,a fellow driver has a tx1 (X reg) with 360,000 miles and it sounds as good as new the body work he has had repaired due to minor rust,so I urge you not to do it :x ,bare in mind my tx crap2 ive only had 4 years,and Ive been the only driver,also I work in guildford.
