so what is to stop the non permit cars from picking up

what happened here was, national express just said when the buses stop running at 11 30,just rank up on the bus stop.no traffic orders no nothing.

They have no powers for that, and maybe a case could be made that they are complicit in taxi touting. :shock:

for the next four nights from tonight (tuesday) the rank at york station will close for urgent repairs to be carried out overnight inside the portico, which means all the hacks will rank up on the public road outside the station, so what is to stop the non permit cars from picking up, I for one will be doing just that as it is public highway

Get the council down to show them a public rank will work outside or keep it going once the repairs are done

Is there any such thing as a temporary, or informal rank? Are there parking restrictions, double yellow lines on the site of this "rank" Does York have sympathetic Police, traffic wardens, licensing officers?

Does that mean that all those who where daft enough to pay for a permit will get a refund??? or not have to pay while the work is done. They may also find it very hard to get onto the temp rank if everyone else ranks there
