Suggestion !
I fully understand and I am aware of the overall nature of the site.
Taxi related.
Only some of us have a life outside the taxi trade and maybe a designated section of the forum could be for General chat taxi related or not !( Or maybe "Free talk" post all non-taxi related topics here )????
I suggest this because to have everyday chat within a thread with a member and the conversation moves away from the point " a little" it seems like the original poster is been hijacked and the post moves well away from the original point that was originally started.

You might like this forum to be specialised as it already is but ....lets face it we do talk about other things that goes on in life !

It might also keep members that are like minded in one place.... and the need to go away from TDO and use other forums on the internet to chat / post off topic stuff would be eliminated.

I know we have "General issues, If you can't find a specific category then post in here!" section........ but The overall feel of the category makes me feel guilty if anything apart from taxi related issues is posted there that I am doing a sin. :sad:

Just an Idea...It might be crap but "What do you think"...
After all the ability to talk poop is a big part of our job... :lol:
And like it or not ! Poop talking saves the day at times....lol.

I think most folks don't really mind when things go off topic, a bit like a conversation in a pub.

The only thing when some might get the hump, including me, is when a very important issue is hijacked by some wanting a ruck.

We have to remember for every person that posts on a thread, dozens read it. And IMO not everyone wants to get involved with folks having a ding dong. :wink:

I totally agree Sussex... I think a quiet word in a few ears would not be excessive... you just get into something, and then someone starts a ruck. it is most annoying. repeat annoying.... :wink:

A reasonable idea, but as Sussex says people post anything they want in general terms and unless it's way OTT it's not deleted.

I think we did think about having such a category when the site was started, but one thing we wanted to do was keep the categories on the frontpage to a reasonable number, because too many categories and it's all over the screen and people post in the wrong section etc.

If Alex wants to set up a section of this type then I have no particular objection, but I always leave the difficult decisions to him :roll:

I appreciate your comments on the Idea.

I have had a few of phpbb forums in my time and I know what you mean by this.
But If you decide to add just one more to keep nut-cases like me in a place where we can talk about "owt and nowt" it would be good chit !
