So its the job of the local council to advise taxi drivers about whats going on?

ffs

Little wonder the trade is in the mess it is.

I wasn't suggesting it was their job but if you're going to do it it's best at the beginning of the consultation rather than towards the end. Also many of the private hire drivers here won't see a trade magazine from one month to the next. These magazines are delivered to the private hire operators office which the drivers are banned from entering

One question I didnt manage to ask was about this pot of money which maybe divided between LA's that need funding towards enforcement.....if that idea emerges.

My LA borders Scotland......which is a different country.....each weekend we have Scottish licensed taxis and PH's here, will the my licensing officers be able to stop the Scottish vehicles?

The new laws will affect only England and Wales......thats where our funding pot comes from.

Why should the English pot pay for the checking of vehicles from another country who dont contribute?

Also, the pot will need administered, someone will have to pay to look after it.....wont that increase the costs to licensees with additional bureaucracy?

Why dont we simply include a PH operators license in the PH drivers license?

It would kind of sort the master servant relationship between PH operator and PH driver, who would be free to accept and bookings he wishes, given the service he has given the PH customer?

I wonder how much mileage that will get before the PH freinds of the DfT get wind of it

We'll see, but I think there's an argument, afterall, PH operators are b*tchin about the need for Op's licenses.........so get rid of individual Op's licenses......given them to the people who do the work ffs

I'm not disagreeing with you at all, I think it is the drivers that should have the operators licence and not some greedy git in an office, the circuits should have to woe drivers, you know as the LC keep on about supply and demand. It's kind of 'you give me something I want (ie work) and I'll give you something you need (ie driver to do work)

The LC have a hang up on economists, after all they're the new god, we need to worship this golden calf.

Sadly, I doubt the LC or economists would last very long on £3 per hour.......but the market could would be expectant so it would need sacrifices, perhaps we should throw a few more dead irish cab drivers onto the pyre?

When asked about dereg and dublin ect we just kept getting the answer of "well it wont be overnight" but not what it actually would be.Allthough they did mention Ipswitch for some reason saying it was only a couple of extra licences.Very reasuring.

I dont disagree, but I dont honestly believe whatever you or we tell them in meetings will make a great deal of difference.....I've said this from the start btw.

If you want to provide evidence you need to provide it, in meetings with timetables it wont work.

Ireland is horrific, it is difficult to quantify the effects of a single death in a family, but 35....directly attributed? ffs

Of course, quite how the LC can include evidence from Ireland and not include the findings of the commission is amazing.
