Most taxi drives I have spoken to about this have said if they dereg the whole country they'll go work in Liverpool and I feel this is what is going to happen. The other thing I noted that was a common phrase was 'we've been stitched' when asked what they did to prevent it they looked at me like a light gone out

Not really sure what your point is, but if you're saying Unite and Ellman are pro-restricted numbers and anti-Delta/cross-border then that's the point I was making earlier.

I suspect not, and indeed if they were that clueless about what was going on then would they be capable of any kind of semi-informed, semi-rational view on it anyway?

I think I might have woken a few people up today.... I decided to get on to the local radio talk show.... Roger Phillips... which covers the whole of Merseyside .... anything that brings awareness to drivers

Dear Hanna..... I would be surprised if very few people excepting association's and the owners of certain private hire company knew this survey is in existence and taking place.
I have requested that Sefton Council advertisers in the local newspapers and send out a mailshot to all licence drivers both private hire and hackney..... I advertised of its existence on local radio yesterday, and my phone has not stopped since..

The last time a survey of this nature was attempted all licensed drivers throughout the country were contacted singly...... so at the moment I would strongly be of the opinion that any final conclusions would be strongly flawed....

I might be alone in thinking that the Law Society and certain major private hire companys think that the Hackney Trade are stupid... and also the small private hire companies, and have no backbone, and can not be organised to respond....... in the past other people in power have thought the same.. but all they succeeded in doing was a weakening the Sleeping Dragon......
