OK. That's this morning's session.

Anyone have the link to this afternoon's session please.

There wasn't one.

But didn't the chair mention another chance for folks wanting to give evidence?

That sounds like a total fob off!!

Another chance for who to give evidence, when?

And if some of the evidence or wishes of the witnesses were brought into being, what would STILL need to happen? . . . .

ENFORCEMENT!!! FFS!!!

AND THAT'S THE CRUX OF ANY LEGISLATION!!!

THEY'RE ALL KNITTING FOG AGAIN!!!!

I suspect someone will e-mail the committee a full list of Berwick HC proprietors and their addresses.

The NTA, the NPHA, NALEO, IoL, TDO( ).

I think this is going to go two ways, f*** all happening, or loads happening.

I don't think there will be any half measures. :-s

And why did that mush mention £150-£100 a day? ](*,)

I'm pretty sure someone on the Hackney side thought that all hackney carriages had data equipment.

I'm sure that sweet chap from the GMB pointed out that the HC trade shouldnt need sat navs.

I'm sure the chap who thought we should all have data equipment also said we should have sat navs.

This is a bit mean, as appearing in front of a select committee isn't as easy as one might imagine, but I'm going to give my out of 10 marks for each grouping.

Unite 6 out of 10.
GMB 8 out of 10.
Skyline 4 out of 10.

Blueline 3 out of 10.
David Wilson 6 out of 10.
Delta 6 out of 10.
South Sefton 3 out of 10.
Addison Lee 3 out of 10.

Myles Bebbington 6 out of 10.
Liverpool 8 out of 10.
Milton Keynes 7 out of 10.
Northumberland 7 out of 10.

Am I right or am I wrong? You decide.

I never thought I would ever hear a taxi driver use the words 'applicable' and 'demonstrable' in the same sentence.

But he was a fan of a Merseyside plate.

And according to Mr Griffin they don't have any enforcement problems with private hire in London.

And the one guy has told the Select Committee that a one tier system would be very useful.

If that came in it would be interesting.

But then the next guy did not agree, probably because he was PH.

In other words as big a waste of time as the meeting seven(?) years ago?

I really do wish I had placed a bet on the private hire.... certain people's ears certainly picked up... when it was explained to them that all the drivers' jobs over the year was accessible and stored on computer..... did any of them MPs have any connections to the Inland Revenue.... and as for the the restriction of numbers in a one Tear system..... where the hell are three thousands private hire vehicles in Sefton supposed to sit on stands... it looks like people will be working all day... just to pay... the new fixed penalties...... I think it is time for me to start putting my plans of retirement into operation.... first England and Wales... and then Scotland......
