Thought the Minister came across well bearing in mind he was probably the most left wing mush in the room.

Be interesting to see what comes out of all of this, but doubt the T&G will be pleased.

What hope have we got when the committee did not even no the difference between a taxi and private hire. :x

The national taxi licence sounds good would be able to go to London for a busman's holiday :lol: :lol:

Yes he made some good points but do not think he was to kean on stopping cross border hiring

What gets me with all of this is why not make it a condition of license that the licensee is resident in the district to which he is licensed some councils practise this and where it is practised it works well and regulates numbers and stops people licensing in one district and operating in another far away but would still allow vehicles operating in areas like mine where 4 counties meet to provide a service.

All this mullarchy is simply an opportunity for various people to champion their own agendas and push for reform for the sake of reform instead of just correcting the inadeqacies of the current sytem it will doubtless just cloud the issues instead of clarifying them

I live in an area where the drivers earn f*** all and have generally s*** standards.

Not my cup of tea. :?

Did Mr Steve Wright CBE tell the Select Committee twice that no London Licensed PH driver has been caught illegally plying for hire?

Or was I hearing things?

I think it was sexual assaults he was talking about, however we all know the truth. :sad:

He kept on about competition, but I wonder if he would support someone working just outside of London flooding London with drivers and vehicles operating a far far lower standard than that required by the PCO.

The London PH spivs just don't get it. ](*,)
