Post subject:  Getting a Hackney Plate & Licence to Work Private Hire
Having read posts and discussions about this topic, I thought I'd have a look around here for a suitable LA to get a Hackney Plate from so I can go play PH somewhere else. So far, my top nomination is Mendip District Council in beautiful Somerset. =D>

If I am reading their website correctly, as long as I am over 18 with a full license (UK/EU presumably) for at least 12 months, I can get a Hack badge and a plate for my 1991 Ford Sierra (or 1979 Ford Cortina for that matter). ](*,) That assumes all the seats have a**e room of 16". Meter and fire extinguisher required. I haven't bothered mentioning CRB or medical as that's obvious.

Can anyone improve on that or shall I apply today? May not be the cheapest license fees but seems very "flexible". :twisted:

Oddly enough on searching www.mosquedirectory.co.uk I couldn't seem to find details of any Mosques in Mendip so I might give them a miss. :evil:

I don't Toot's, just my perverse sense of humour! I kinda wondered if there was a ratio between distance from Mosque/Ease of getting taxi license.
