What is the point of the LC's proposals to remove location requirements on PH operators, when they are also proposing national fixed PH standards?

The only reason the PH operators use vehicles and drivers from elsewhere is because their entry requirements are cheaper and/or easier to meet.

If they are the same nationally then there is no sound reason for operators to use vehicles licensed elsewhere.

I think you'll find that it means one office covers multiple areas

Of course then you'll get drivers who'll license themselves elsewhere because the tests are harsher in one area than another......even though its the same test........and of course the LC havent actually resolved the fees issue?

I'm most grateful for that answer.

Quite what relevance it has to the question I guess only you know. :-k

What is the point of the LC being involved at all with the Taxi and PH trade, shouldn't they be busying themselves with Tightening up the Law rather than fiddling and Tampering with Transport issues that should be over seen the DVLA or VOSA or some other Transport quango or even the good old local authority?

I reckon things would be best left as they are, Imperfect but in place, This shower will just price or regulate you out of Business no matter what location you live in or work in. Their Government remit is to reform the law, not to reform the Industry and change its mode of operation.

Maybe they should have a motto "Law Commisions the name but more regulations the game"
