We cannot believe this after all the hoops that we have to through. The obvious question is have they been lenient because of his race? Answers please.

Ged.
I cannot read the story because of a bad gateway.
I assume from TDO story that he declared his conviction on his application form.

they certainly knew from his reccord check, he did go before the committee and we dont know what was said, in the case on its merits.

I would hope, that the committee were very concerned about refusing a person what is effectively a work permit, unless there were overiding grounds.

it is easy to be very wise after the event, the judge saw clearly the result of the councils deliberations, but the council obviously could not see into the future.

you know your council better than me, but I would hope that race did not play a part.

on this occasion they did not have the jugement of Solomon.

the committee are much more experienced now, I am sure they have learned a hard lesson.

it is regretfull that the lady concerned shouldered too great a price.

we all now need to be aware that when councils are hard in these cases, there is purpose in it.

our council has officers making these decisions, and its all done by written reps, if something like this happens they have a thick file!

Alex,
Thank for your addition.
Geoff,
I am still angry and will reflect overnight on your observations which as usual are fair minded.
