Well this is a tad odd. Not only because it was reported in the first place, and that police actually took action, and to the extent they actually issued a witness appeal. (I thought at first it might be a female driver, but it seems to be male...)

But in this press report the police appeal on social media appeared to refer to a 'cheeky individual'. I mean, it's either a crime worth pursuing, or it's worthy of a joke

Personally, doubt I'd bother reporting someone making an ar$e of themselves like this :-o , but there may be more to it than reported.

And it looks like TVP may have had second thoughts about the 'cheeky' comment anyway...

Newbury taxi driver flashed by man outside library

https://www.readingchronicle.co.uk/news ... e-library/

A man flashed his exposed "buttocks and genitals" at a taxi driver waiting outside the Newbury library.

The taxi driver was parked outside the library just after midnight on February 21 when he heard a knock on his drivers side front window, according to police.

The taxi driver looked over to see a white male standing by the car.

The driver opened his window to speak to the man, thinking he wanted a lift, but as soon as the window was rolled down the male turned around and pulled his trousers down, "exposing his buttocks and genitals".

The flasher stood there for about a minute before the taxi driver decided to call the police.

The flasher then "hit" the taxi driver's door with his buttocks before running away.

Thames Valley Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with any information to please come forward.

The flasher is described as a white male, aged 25 to 30 years, 5ft 6in tall with a medium build.

Anyone with information should contact the police by calling 101 or making a report online on the police website, using crime reference number 43260087285.

Sharing the witness appeal online, spokesperson for Thames Valley Police wrote: "Does this cheeky man sound familiar to you? #embarassing..."

The source of the appeal seems to be the TVP West Berkshire Facebook page.

And while some of the comments join in with the ribaldry ('crack the case' etc), quite a few taking issue with the choice of words, eg:

Quote:
I'm actually shocked at the reporting of this by the police. If a woman had been exposed like that by a man in the middle of the night the reporting would be far different. Somehow I don't think they would have used the word 'cheeky' clearly the taxi driver was in quite some distress over this having reported it to the police TVP West Berkshire do better

And it looks like TVP have taken heed, because the word 'cheeky' doesn't seem to appear in the post, so has presumably been edited out...

And, embarrassingly, TVP seemed to misspell the word 'embarrassing' anyway - should be two *Rs*.

As in two cheeks of the same Rs
